Portrait of Wilhelm Bendz
Købke studied with the Danish painter Wilhelm Bendz (1804-1832) under C.W. Eckersberg. This portrait was probably painted shortly before Bendz set out on a tour of Germany and Italy. Bendz is recognised as one of the key figures of Danish art in this period. He was an important influence on his younger friend, Købke.
