Saint Sebastian

Sebastian was a Roman soldier who was martyred for his Christian faith by the Emperor Diocletian in 288 AD. He was bound to a stake, often represented as a tree, and shot with arrows. Saint Sebastian was seen as one of the principal protectors against the plague and as a symbol of Christian steadfastness in the face of persecution.
