A Landscape with a Shepherd and his Flock

As sunset casts a golden glow over the landscape, a shepherd pipes to his flock. This painting was probably inspired by the countryside around Rubens's country home Het Steen, where the artist spent his last years. Landscape painting seems to have been a largely private occupation for Rubens. He kept many of his landscapes until his death.
